An area teenager was charged this week with having brought a loaded handgun onto a school bus.
The 17 year-old suspect was charged with having brought a loaded handgun onto an area school bus on Wednesday. The Bethel Park High School student allegedly showed the .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol to at least one other student, who then notified school officials.
According to the report the student told police that he found the gun, and it was later determined that the gun had been stolen from a home in Peters Township. Police allegedly found the gun at the student’s home after his parents agreed to allow them to conduct a search.
According to Bethel Park police Chief John Mackey, the teen is being charged as a juvenile with gun related charges, and is being held at the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center.
